High-speed Internet connectivity
Our new Data Centre facility features a dedicated 155 MBit
STM1 ATM link, and multiple OC3 Internet connections with
6MB available PVC for failover.
High-speed Web Servers
All services are run on IBM NetFinity 4500R Rack Mounted
Web Servers. These are specified to be mission critical machines,
scalable to incorporate the use of a RAID disk array. Cisco and
Lucent Network equipment is used, with full service contracts.
Fully redundant, load balanced Web cluster
All hosted Websites enjoy the benefit of full load balancing across
a clustered web server farm, all the data being stored in a fibre
channel RAID array. Load balancers ensure web requests to any website
are distributed to the least busy web server machine, maximising
performance 24x7.
Redundancy exists at every level with each point of failure protected
by a fully automated fail-over replacement.
This is the most sophisticated shared Web-hosting environment
in Sydney and Australia. Uptime is virtually guaranteed.

High speed, high security operating system
Operating system is Debian OS, always back patched to incorporate
the latest security updates. We run Zeus Web Server Software - a
world-record breaking Web server software.
Security across shared servers is vastly superior to Windows NT/2000
or Apache based systems, and because we use Zeus security is significantly
enhanced by 'sand boxing' individual users, overcoming the most
common security concern with IIS or Apache.
Reliable service monitoring, daily back-up and disaster recovery
Our high availability guarantee requires an intense monitoring
regime. We operate a 24-hour server and service monitoring and intelligent
restart operation. We monitor not only each server on
a constant basis, but each service running on every server. Hence,
each web, mail, DNS, FTP and application server is monitored constantly.
Automations restart failed services and an escalation procedure
ultimately alerts a set of pagers in the event a catastrophic failure
incapable of being auto-fixed by the systems.
The data is physically stored on a SAN and served by a Network
File Server (NFS) to the web cluster. The NFS has a redundant fail-over
, which is also 'plugged in' to the Fibre Channel storage device.
Back-up is performed daily, there is a 7 day tape rotation and weekly
and monthly tapes are kept offsite for archival purposes. Back-up
is a fully automated system via a auto loading backup tape device.
The Data Centre utilizes redundant power via an Online UPS protection
for the entire machine room. Power availability using this configuration
has conservatively been estimated at 99.99% uptime.
Air conditioned environment
The room itself is based on standard raised floor architecture
with a HIROTEC HIFLEX unit providing precision temperature and humidity
control. This is maintained at 24°C and 50% relative humidity.
High security entry points
The Sydney Data Centre is protected by the requirement to pass
through two steel-reinforced access gates to enter the building.
A further two doors, requiring different levels of swipe-card security
protect access to the workspace and then the Data Centre
itself. The premises are alarmed and connected to a 24 hour security
company.
